9. Stonehallow

Region Type

  • Crumbling arcane nexus / ley-saturated ruin / unstable magical storm

Description

In a time long forgotten, Stonehallow stood at the heart of Albion’s ley network — a nexus of pure magical power. Now, the ley lines have ruptured. Arcane storms ripple through shattered menhirs, and the very ground pulses with unstable energy. Cracks in reality flicker open and closed across its broken platforms. Wizards drawn here do so at great risk, for the magic is wild — and sometimes, hungry.

Floating stones drift between ruined towers, and the echo of forgotten incantations clings to the air like static.

Optional Traits

Ley Flux

  • At the start of each round, roll a d20:
  • On a 1–3, unstable ley surges distort spellcasting this round.
  • Until end of round, whenever a model casts a spell successfully, roll a d20:
    • 1–5: The spell succeeds, but the caster suffers 1 damage from arcane backlash.
    • 6–20: No additional effect.

Fractured Ground
  • At the start of each round, roll a d20:
  • On a 1–4, a ley pulse fractures the terrain.
  • Immediately, all models currently standing on elevated terrain (platforms, stairs, floating stones, or raised ruins) must roll a d20:
    • 1–6: The model is shifted 1” in a random direction (toward open ground if possible).
    • 7–20: No effect.

Runestone Stacks
(Terrain Feature)

Runestone Stacks are floating columns of arc-stone, remnants of Stonehallow’s ley rupture. They are treated as elevated terrain for all game purposes. Models may move into contact with them or stand atop their base only if terrain setup permits it (they are otherwise treated as impassable above the base). When Fractured Ground triggers: All Runestone Stacks shift 1” in a random direction immediately. Stacks may pass through models and other terrain when moving (they phase briefly through reality); models are not displaced but may find their path blocked or line of sight altered.
